i hardly saw much of the petition, but i think that a lot of people, many who are on this board seem to jump in at the first instance and declare non support for a signing, idea, or anything else from the club that doesnt suit them. These people dont give things a chance or be patient, but just obviously find that they must know more than SB and the board, and then just start up the engine and then let every other tom dick and harry who hasnt got half a clue about football jump on the band wagon.....im all for freedom of speech but lets hope in future that people do something prior to this........THINK!!!! rant over KRO SOTV |

Our board must wonder why they even bother sometimes. Its only days after securing our 20 goal a season striker forssell you'd think people would be hero worshipping them but some idiotic tw*ts think they know better than Bruce/Sullivan/Gold and destory our chances of signing Bowyer, a player that would have improved us greatly and moved us forward. Bowyer is class, i hope he still signs and the morons clear off. |

I hope people who signed the petition take note of the paragraph where Bowyer states he is not a racist, and the fact he supports the kick racism out of football campaign. Nice work people. :( |

Thanks to all petitioners , just bears out what i posted earlier about alienating the board and SB, what could have been eh?. There could well be more to this story ie "why do we bother" etc. Please next time you want to prove to the world you are jolly nice PC people please do not do it in my name or p**s o** the owners with your misplaced and factually wrong views |

I didn't see or sign a petition, but, this is a democratic country, where people are allowed to speak freely of thier beliefs and opinions. If they thought that the best way to stop something from happening, that they disagreed with, was to get a petition together, then that is their absolute right. The club recently urged us to sign a petition in favour of a new stadium, that was THEIR right. Would anyone deny the same opportunity to individuals? If Lee Bowyer is so concerned about "less than 1% of the regular fan base", then his mind was already partially made up before this became common knowledge. Surely a 99% in favour is more appealing? |

Sullivan is talking B..Sh.. (and I don't swear). A handfull(no more than 20?) voiced concern on a free speak forum expressing reservations about a player (no matter how good) who makes the headlines (on several occasions) for all the wrong reasons .... some voiced concern rationally and logically ... some because they just like to hear there own voice/messages online. BUT we are being asked to believe that these few people can really make a difference ... that is B..Sh.. I think Mr sullivan has his own agender here? .. they have changed their mind ..or he does not want to come? I have not yet voiced an opinion either way .. I usualy just prefer to listen and learn (or laugh) ... but just for the record ... I hope he does not come ... I would prefer to take my son to see Blues playing in a lower league than to watch someone that is being taken to court for hitting another player on a football pitch |

Puds i don't give a monkeys , what it has done has made the board very unhappy . Yes by all means debate the issue but what the petition has done could be hurtful to the whole club, who is to say that this issue could be the straw that breaks the camels back. Like you say free speech is one thing ,upsetting the very people who are trying to build our club up is another. David gold is jewish, members of the team black and of different nationalities do you really think they would not have said anything if all the rumours were true?.The man was aquitted that should have been that . |

All of you seem to forget that every Poll conducted on this site has shown the majority of users of this messageboard did not want Lee Bowyer at this club. You can't argue with democracy. I can understand the disappointment from those who wanted him here, but I believe history will show that we had a lucky escape. Not signing Bowyer does not automatically mean it's DJ in midfield next season!! there are still 11 weeks of transfer window to go yet and Brucie has been tearing round Europe watching midfielders. Besides,as I understand it,Bowyer was to be in addition to the planned midfielder. |

has anybody thought of doing a sign bowyer pet. to hand to the board which they can show to bowyer and the support he would have if he did come? i will admit i signed the other one but after thinking about it all day - nothing else to do i regret my decision and would sign that one straight off with a apollogy side note when i signed it, i did it because of hitting a team mate and had no i dea it would go so public, damn the media |

we all will support dj when he plays, however, that doesn't automatically make a good player who one that is better than bowyer. we will of course by someone instead of bowyer, however, i will be surprised if he is a better combative midfielder with a bit of qulaity and skill as well as bowyer was. the only player out there who was available was parker and he has now gone. i also think it is clear that petition or no petition the club will not be swayed in their pursuit of bowyer. they may get their way by bowyer not playing for our club, but they have done nothing to disuade the people it was targeted at |

I didn't see the petition, but those who signed it are entitled to express their views & I can understand why some people would not want us to sign a player who has been associated with racism. I never realised that Bowyer is such a sensitive soul <_< |

What i cannot get my head around is this. D Sullivan says that Bowyer may not come to the club because of 1% of the supporters do not want him. 1% of 30.000 is what 100 people ? So he is saying he does not like the fact that 100 people are against his joining BCFC.....sorry thats bull (imo) |

So, 1% of the fan base has 'upset' the board!! Deary me, as soon as Doug is out of hospital, they should go a seek his advice on how to deal with the situation, he has the same problem 50 times over!!! I started posting again on this forum, because I was assured by a moderator, that properly offered opinions would be allowed, even criticism of the board. If Mr Sullivan is freely able to criticise the folk who have signed the petition, surely they have the same rights to criticise their policies, signings, outbursts in the press etc etc? I'll say again, I didn't even see a petition, but I will defend the rights of free people to have their say on any matter which is in the public domain. |

so punching opponents is ok then? what a completely facile argument; you dont want him here because of his antics with dyer, but dj punching somebody AND costing us 3 points is ok? crazy!!! imo fans have every right to express opinions either verbally or in writing as on here, but the problem when you sign a petition in haste is that when you realise you made a mistake its too late!! it all adds credence to sav's claim that his first upset here was through the message boards giving him rabid stick. my guess is most of those who signed never go to games and have no real idea what bowyer is like; its a well known fact he has as many (or more) black and ethnic friends as he has white. passionate? yes. improve our team? yes. foolish sometimes? yes. fans raising "knee-jerk" reactionary petitions? mental..... |
